Events: Panel Discussion + Shopping Event at Clare V. Store
So my friend Megan Papay and I were sitting on two bar stools at Smitty’s (Sausalito watering hole) — as one does on a Wednesday at 5:30 — when she had a not-uncommon flash of creative brilliance. Megan is co-founder of Freda Salvador, a rather hot and edgy shoe brand. She asked if I would ever consider hand-painting Fredas. ...like, on the spot ...a live happening. I laughed and said “of course I would” (I’m always a yes) “...but the better question is would anyone hand me a pair of their gorgeous and pristine shoes to jack-up?”
She told me she had an event coming up at the Clare V Store in SF, with a handful of other brands who are equally hot and edgy (Not her words). One of these brands is a dear and busy friend in NYC who I would drop anything to get time with — Ariane Goldman, founder of HATCH. I told her if Ariane was in, I’m in.
Cut to last Saturday, Taylor Sterling - founder of the Glitter Guide - moderated a panel with Clare Vivier of Clare V., Megan Papay of Freda Salvador, Ariane Goldman of HATCH, Ariel Gordon of Ariel Gordon Jewelry and myself at Clare V’s SF store, talking about starting your own business, work/life balance and where we find inspiration. It was an honor to be included with this group of lady/founder/creatives and I learned that we’re all at our core the same type— all yes-people, all driven by what’s around the corner, all wanting to put into the world that which hasn’t been said.
Then true to my word, I painted some shoes. Turns out, plenty of people would want to jack up their Fredas!
Next to come, a limited edition Freda Salvador shoe in one of my prints. Stay tuned!
